ENEL STARTS OPERATING TWO NEW WIND FARMS IN MEXICO
Enel invested around 250 million US dollars in the 129 MW Palo Alto wind farm, which is expected to generate more than 350 GWh annually. The company invested about 220 million US dollars in the 100 MW Vientos del Altiplano facility, which is expected to generate over 280 GWh each year. These two new plants bring Enel’s total installed capacity in Mexico to 729 MW. Rome, November 3rd, 2016 – Enel, through its Mexican renewable energy subsidiary Enel Green Power México (EGPM), has completed and connected to the national electricity grid the 129 MW Palo Alto wind farm, which is located in the State of Jalisco, and the 100 MW Vientos del Altiplano wind farm in Zacatecas State.
“We are very pleased about the entry into service of these two new wind farms, which strengthen Enel’s leadership in Mexico’s renewables sector”, said Paolo Romanacci, Enel’s Head of Renewable Energies for Central America and General Director of Enel Green Power México. “Renewables play a key role in the diversification of the country’s energy mix, while boosting its sustainable economic development. With these two new plants, we are contributing to Mexico’s clean energy targets as well as creating shared value for local communities through sustainable agriculture and other infrastructure projects carried out in cooperation with local partners.”
