Rome and Mexico City, March 29th, 2017 – Enel S.p.A. (“Enel”), through its Mexican renewable subsidiary Enel Green Power México (“EGPM”), has started construction works at its 754 MW1 Villanueva solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Viesca, Coahuila State, which is the largest PV facility under construction in the Americas and Enel’s largest solar project worldwide. The construction works were inaugurated today during an event that was attended by Coahuila State Governor Lic. Rubén Moreira Valdez and Paolo Romanacci, Enel’s Head of Renewable Energies for Central America.

"The start of construction of this record-breaking plant is another major milestone for Enel” said Paolo Romanacci. “We continue to make excellent progress against our strategy in this high-potential market. Mexico is a key country for Enel and we look forward to contributing further to the country’s growing electricity sector with the clean energy generated by Villanueva and the 530 MW of solar and wind projects we have under execution. Enel is an important actor in Mexico’s sustainable development, and it is clear that our approach of creating shared value for all our stakeholders around the world is working very well in Mexico.”
